2016/2017 Special Project
3D/4D Face Imaging System for Cleft Lip and Palate
"Currently, over 1000 children with cleft lip and palate are active in Shriners Hospitals for Children-Chicago. In addition, more than 500 children with various craniofacial anomalies have surgery and treatments in Shriners Hospitals for Children-Chicago. The ability to capture our children in function dynamically at the time of their appointment will not only allow us to more accurately document the facial deformity and functional impairment, but will have a significant impact on how we currently provide services. Accurately captured 3D videos will minimize the need for return appointments: the children will not need to take additional time off from their school and parents will not need to take time off from work. This project, is vital, as the dynamic or 4D system has the great advantage of evaluating the functional aspect via facial movement." Shriners Hospital for Children - Chicago.
